Eagle Grove volleyball falls in season opener at Southeast Valley, 3-0

GOWRIE — The Eagle Grove Eagles volleyball team opened their 2025 season on Tuesday night, as they made the trip to Gowrie to take on the Southeast Valley Jaguars in non-conference action at Southeast Valley High School. The Jaguars entered Tuesday with the game as their season-opener.

Set 1 was back and forth early, with the Eagles up 5-3 at one juncture, but a 7-0 run by Southeast Valley opened the flood gates for a 25-13 win. The Jaguars would dominate set 2 for a 25-12 win, while set 3 was a tight one early on, but Southeast Valley would pull away to cap a 25-12 win and a 3-0 sweep.

The Player of the Game for Eagle Grove was senior Kendra Schild, who finished with 5 kills, as Taytum Edwards added a kill and 3 blocks. Madelyn Farley led Southeast Valley with 13 kills.

Eagle Grove volleyball returns to action on Thursday, when they travel to Forest City to open Top of Iowa West play against the Indians, with first serve at 7 PM.
