WEBSTER CITY — The Webster City Lynx girls tennis team opened their Fall 2025 season on Friday afternoon, as they welcomed in the Dike-New Hartford Wolverines and the Ballard Bombers for a non-conference tri-dual at Webster City High School.
Webster City opened with Dike-New Hartford, as Allie Severe lost in Position 1 2-0 (3-6, 2-6), as Alivia Burns would lose in position 2 by a 2-0 margin (1-6, 5-7). Gabbie Sebert was swept in position 3 by a 2-0 decision (0-6, 1-6), as Natalie Segar lost in position 4, 2-0 (0-6, 1-6). Olivia Bergman dropped position 5 by a 2-0 margin (5-7, 0-6), while Sylvia Otteros picked up the Lynx’s first win with a 2-1 victory (3-6, 6-2, 1-0). The Lynx would win the opening match of doubles with Allie Severe and Alivia Burns winning 2-0 (6-4, 6-4), while Gabbie Sebbert and Olivia Bergman lost 2-0 (1-6, 0-6) as Natalie Segar and Sylvia Otteros lost 2-1 (6-7, 6-0, 1-0) as Dike-New Hartford won the match 7-2.
The final match for the Lynx saw them face off with the Ballard Bombers, as all matches went to 1-set due to the heat. Allie Severe led off with an 8-3 win in position 1, as Alivia Burns followed with a 3-0 win. Gabbie Sebert would pick up an 8-4 win, as Natalie Segar won in extra rallies 9-7. Olivia Bergman would fall 8-3, as Sylvia Otteros secured a Lynx match win with an 8-6 victory. In doubles, Allie Severe and Alivia Burns would win 8-3, as Gabbie Sebert and Olivia Bergman lost 8-1, while Natalie Segar and Sylvia Otteros lost 8-2 as Webster City won the match 6-3.
Webster City girls tennis returns to action on Tuesday, when they host Iowa Falls-Alden in North Central Conference action beginning at 10 AM.
