2025 KQRadio Volleyball Preview: Webster City Lynx

WEBSTER CITY — Webster City volleyball put together another successful campaign in 2024, finishing 16-13 and placing runner-up in the North Central Conference with a 6-1 mark in conference play. A lot of 2024’s stars are gone due to graduation, but the Lynx still have a plan to reload, rather than rebuild.

Front Row

Webster City’s front line in 2024 was a group that outperformed expectations behind the play of seniors Marissa Hedeen, Olivia Gallentine and Addilyn Orton. 2025’s front line may not have the consistent size, but it’s an athletic group led by returning kills leader Tristyn Wright, who’s likely next in-line to take over as Webster City’s right-side attacker/setter combination. Avery Poppen led the Lynx in blocks in 2024 with 25, while also contributing 61 kills as well. Others to watch include Jaylyn Bahrenfuss, who was added to the varsity rotation late in 2024, Evie Davis, who’s 6′ 0″ frame could poise problems for opposing offenses, as well as Lovie Pruismann, who’s athleticism makes up for a shorter frame, after collecting 32 kills in 2024.

Back Row

No team in the North Central Conference has been as consistent in producing top-shelf back-row defenders for the better part of a decade than Webster City. The libero spot in the Lynx rotation is up for grabs after the departure of Cloe Savitski, as likely candidates to step into the role for the Lynx include either Morgan Hackbarth or Alivia Burns. Hackbarth was 2nd on the team in digs with 241, while Alivia Burns had 101 as a junior. Hailey Brim is expected to take a bigger role in the backrow after playing in a mostly-server role in 2024. Janey Putney and Ellie Peterson are 2 others that could see significant time in the back row for the Lynx.

Webster City volleyball opens their regular season on August 25th, when they compete in an early bird quad-meet at Roland-Story beginning at 5 PM.
