2025 KQRadio All-Area Softball Teams and Awards

The 2025 High School Softball season has come and gone for the KQRadio area and was filled with standout performances and perhaps a building block to what could be a special summer in 2026.

Player of the Year: Addyson Jeske, Sr. SS (Eagle Grove)

Stats – .527 AVG/.574 OBP/.703 SLG/1.278 OPS, 3 HR, 25 RBI, 48 H, 3 2B, 2 3B, 48 R, 41 SB, .875 F%

No one has done more to help revive the Eagle Grove softball program on the field than shortstop Addyson Jeske. In her final season in the purple and gold, Jeske finished in the top 10 in 3A in batting average (9th), had an OPS of nearly 1.300, became Eagle Grove’s all-time hits leader, and delivered one of the most dramatic moments in program history with her walk-off 2-run home run to beat Humboldt and send the Eagles to Regional Finals for the 2nd year in a row.

Pitcher of the Year: Mya Morgan, So. (Eagle Grove)

Stats – 26 starts, 15-10 record, 2.68 ERA, 143.2 IP, 57 BB, 155 K, 55 ER allowed, .228 BAA | .233 AVG/.345 OBP/.493 SLG/.838 OPS, 5 HR, 18 RBI, 17 H, 4 2B

The Eagle Grove southpaw was part of a core group that showed how bright the future of Eagles softball is. Morgan was 3rd in the Top of Iowa West in ERA (2.68), wins (3rd) and strikeouts (155) and recorded 3 double-digit strikeout games.

Defensive Player of the Year: Cloe Savitski, Sr. C (Webster City)

Stats – .246 AVG/.315 OBP/.400 SLG/.715 OPS, 1 HR, 7 RBI, 16 H, 1 2B, 3 3B, 124 putouts, 18 assists, .979 F%, 11 thrown out stealing, 33 stolen bases allowed

A year full of high-percentage defenders in the area, Cloe Savitski takes the crown as DPOY, finishing 2nd in the NCC in thrown out stealing (11), 3rd in stolen bases allowed amongst starting catchers (33) and 4th in fielding percentages (.979). Her 124 putouts also led Webster City on the season.

Newcomer of the Year: Holly Anderson, So. C (Eagle Grove)

Stats – .341 AVG/.386 OBP/.573 SLG/.960 OPS, 3 HR, 24 RBI, 4 R, 1 SB, 28 H, 10 2B

Anderson was one of many Eagles taking over for a uber-productive senior class and made sure a notable drop-off would not occur. Anderson finished 2nd on the team in RBI (24) and home runs (3), while leading the team in doubles (10). Anderson also threw out 9 runners stealing as well and recorded 177 putouts.

Coach of the Year: Jim McLaughlin (Eagle Grove)

Accomplishments – 17-11 record, T-3rd in Top of Iowa West, West Hancock Tournament Champions, 3A Regional Finalist

After losing 7 starters from their Regional Final team in 2024, McLaughlin was able to navigate a nearly brand new starting lineup to another top half finish in the Top of Iowa West and get the Eagles to the brink of the state tournament for the 2nd year in a row.

First Team All-Area

Catcher – Peyton Jeter, Sr. (Roland-Story)

Stats – .476 AVG/.551 OBP/.655 SLG/1.206 OPS, 3 HR, 24 RBI, 40 H, 3 R, 6 2B, 113 putouts, 8 assists, .984 F%

While missing out on some individual accolades, Jeter was the heartbeat of a resurgent Roland-Story team in 2025, tying for the team led in home runs (3), while finishing 4th in the HOIAC in batting average (.476) and 10th in fielding percentage (.984).

First Base – Claire Hewitt, Jr. (South Hamilton)

Stats – .239 AVG/.386 OBP/.343 SLG/.730 OPS, 10 RBI, 16 H, 5 2B, 1 3B, 10 R, 8 SB, 178 putouts, 1 error, .994 F%

While the offensive numbers aren’t eye-popping, Hewitt’s high-level consistency on the defensive end stands out by finishing 3rd in the HOIAC in putouts (178), 4th in fielding percentage (.994) and led the conference in walks drawn (17).

Second Base – Keely Oberender, Jr. (Roland-Story)

Stats – .313 AVG/.367 OBP/.470 SLG/.837 OPS, 2 HR, 24 RBI, 16 R, 1 SB, 26 H, 7 2B, 19 putouts, 31 assists, .820 F%

A move to second base for Oberender brought very positive results in her junior campaign, tying for the team lead in RBI (24) and finishing with 26 hits on the season.

Shortstop – Addyson Jeske, Sr. (Eagle Grove)

Third Base – Breanna Bahrenfuss, Sr. (Webster City)

Stats – .290 AVG/.371 OBP/.355 SLG/.726 OPS, 1 HR, 14 RBI, 18 H, 6 R, 1 2B, 9 putouts, 25 assists, .739 F%

Bahrenfuss was a consistent at the hot corner for the Lynx, and provided some consistency in the batting order with a home run and a team-high 14 RBI.

Outfield – Lily Locke, Jr. (Eagle Grove)

Stats – .338 AVG/.433 OBP/.506 SLG/.940 OPS, 2 HR, 18 RBI, 26 H, 16 R, 4 SB, 3 2B, 2 2B, 19 putouts, 4 assists, .793 F%

Locke provided consistent pop and power at the plate for Eagle Grove, with her OPS sitting 3rd on the team amongst regular starts (.940), while playing a valuable defensive role in left field.

Outfield – Evelyn Carlson, 8th Grade (Roland-Story)

Stats – .312 AVG/.396 OBP/.537 SLG/.933 SLG, 3 HR, 12 RBI, 25 H, 17 R, 4 SB, 7 2B, 1 3B, 29 putouts, 3 assists, .744 F%

Carlson emerged as a welcomed-surprise at the plate for the Norsemen, leading the club in home runs (3) while providing power and speed in the leadoff spot. Carlson used that speed to cover a lot of ground in the outfield as well.

Outfield – Lauren Crabbs, Fr. (Roland-Story)

Stats – .276 AVG/.360 OBP/.329 SLG/.689 OPS, 9 RBI, 21 H, 4 2B, 15 R, 6 SB, 33 putouts, 2 assists, .946 F%

At the plate, Crabbs freshman campaign wasn’t as productive as her 8th grade campaign, but defense saw Crabbs step up her game and finish with a fielding percentage just below .950 and only committed 2 errors all season.

Lammers delivered in many different facets for the Hawks this season. Lammers hit the only 2 home runs by Hawks this season, while also providing a consistent option in the circle as well.
