A 35-year-old Hampton man died early Sunday morning,July 20th of injuries in an accident in Franklin County.The Iowa State Patrol reported a southbound 2024 model Subaru Forester SUV driven by Ty Borcherding of Hampton was traveling at a very high rate of speed on East Railroad Street in Dows when it left the roadway,vaulted and struck the concrete elevator owned by the NEW Coop. The vehicle came to rest against a metal door at the elevator where it then caught fire. Firefighters from Belmond,Clarion and Dows arrived on the scene early Sunday morning to extinguish the blaze.Borcherding was pronounced dead at the accident scene. The accident remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol and the Wright County Sheriff’s Office.
