Eagle Grove softball falls in 3A regional final to #2 Williamsburg, 9-0

The Eagle Grove Eagles softball team returned to action on Tuesday night, as they made the long trip into eastern Iowa to take on the Williamsburg Raiders in their Class 3A, Region 2 final at Jim Turner Field in Williamsburg. Eagle Grove entered at 17-10, while Williamsburg entered at 32-7 and ranked #2.

Tuesday’s first inning would go scoreless, as following an empty top of the 2nd for Eagle Grove, Williamsburg exploded for 7 runs in the bottom of the frame of an RBI double, 2 RBI singles and a 3-run homer as the Raiders took a 7-0 lead. Williamsburg then added 2 more runs in the 3rd to take a 9-0 lead and hold Eagle Grove off the scoreboard to pick up a 9-0, 5-inning victory.

Addy Jeske went 1-for-2 in her final game in an Eagles uniform, with a base hit and a drawn walk. Mya Morgan went 1-for-2 with a double, picking up the loss allowing 9 runs on 7 hits in 4 innings of work.

Williamsburg advances to the 3A State Tournament, where they will defend their 2024 title by opening the tournament against the Washington Demons on Tuesday at 10 AM at Harlan Rogers Sports Complex in Fort Dodge. Eagle Grove’s season ends with a record of 17-11.
