South Hamilton School Board approves $7.5 million School Infrastructure Sales and Use Tax Revenue Bonds for auxiliary gymnasium.

The South Hamilton Community School Board Monday evening listened to several community members voicing support for the school auxiliary gym project that is being proposed. The hearing highlighted the current shortage of adequate gym space for all age groups at South Hamilton, the opportunity to host events like Mega Nights, and the potential for the facility to be used by all members of the community. The board noted that it could serve as a valuable asset to help attract new families to the area. There was no opposition to the project or the funding for the auxiliary gym project. The South Hamilton Board adopted a resolution supporting the proposed issuance of approximately $7.5 million in School Infrastructure Sales, Services and Use Tax Revenue Bonds. Further details about the auxiliary gym project will be discussed in the coming months.

The board approved the following changes to the school fees for the 2025-26 school year beginning August 25th. The adult lunch price will be at $5.00 and other meal prices by ten cents. Anderson Erickson Dairy submitted the low bid for providing dairy products for the new school year. There were several appointments made by the board at Monday’s meeting. Todd Coy will be the Title IX coordinator. Superintendent Heather Holm will be Level 1 Investigator. Lisa Ziesman was appointed as the Affirmative Action Coordinator. The professional school counselor was appointed as the South Hamilton Homeless coordinator.

In another matter, the South Hamilton School Board learned that approximately 94% of the respondents to the Needs Assessment Survey are satisfied with the South Hamilton Schools compared with 84.2 percent in 2024. There was also a significant increase in satisfaction with school safety. The survey will be reviewed further at a future meeting.

South Hamilton building and grounds director Brian Howard informed the school board reported on several building projects. The fencing is almost complete at the school. The new gym sound system has been installed. New lights are being installed in the elementary gym. There is work being done to the ag shop and stage with completion in the next few weeks before the start of the new academic year.

In personnel matters, the South Hamilton School Board Monday evening approved the resignations of Courtney Nelson as a High School Special Education Associate. Cole Billerbeck as Junior High Football Coach, and Carlton Ness as Junior High Football Coach. The board approved the hirings of Lanken Zanker as an Elementary Special Education Associate. Ailya Massman  as Head Dance Coach, and Cole Billerbeck as a High School Assistant Football Coach.
