Webster City softball season ends at (4A) #1 Cedar Rapids Xavier

The Webster City Lynx softball team saw its season come to an end Saturday in a 10-0 loss to No. 1-ranked Xavier in a Class 4A, region 1 semifinal at Bob Erusha Field.

Xavier (36-5) jumped out to an early lead with four runs in the first inning, highlighted by a two-run home run from Katie Pilcher. The Saints added four more runs over the next two innings before the game ended in the fourth with two runs from Jaselle Long and Abby Driscoll.

Webster City (7-18) struggled at the plate against Xavier pitcher Braylon Conlon, who struck out 11 and allowed just one hit, which came from Alivia Burns in the third inning.

With the win, Xavier advances to the regional final Tuesday at 7 p.m. against No. 15-ranked Bondurant-Farrar. Webster City’s season ends with a record of 7-18.
