Eagle Grove softball advances to 3A regional finals in dramatic 11-10 win over Humboldt

The Eagle Grove Eagles softball team returned to action on Saturday, as they hosted the Humboldt Wildcats in their Class 3A, Region 2 semifinal at Greenwood Park in Eagle Grove. Eagle Grove entered with a record of 16-10, while Humboldt entered at 15-13.

Saturday started with Eagle Grove plating a pair of runs in the 1st, followed by Humboldt plating a pair of their own runs in the 2nd to tie the game at 2-2. Eagle Grove would then put up a prosperous, 5-run 3rd inning to take a 7-2 lead. From there, Humboldt would chip away at the lead, putting up a run in the 4th, 3 runs in the 5th and 3 more runs in the 6th to take a 9-7 lead. Eagle Grove would battle back, putting up 2 runs in the 6th to tie the game at 9-9. Humboldt would plate the go-ahead run in the 7th to take a 10-9 lead, but with a runner on 3rd and 2 outs, Eagle Grove senior Addy Jeske hit a walk-off 2-run home run to send the Eagles to the regional finals for an 11-10 victory.

Addy Jeske went 3-for-5 with a home run, a double and 3 RBI in her final game at Greenwood Park, Lily Locke and Chloe Schultz both went 3-for-4 with an RBI as well. Mya Morgan went the full 7 innings, allowing 10 runs (4 earned) on 9 hits and struck out 6.

Eagle Grove advances to the Class 3A, Region 2 final and will travel to the two-time defending Class 3A State Champion  Williamsburg Raiders, with first pitch at 7 PM on 95.7 KQWC or streaming online at kqradio.com.
