Roland-Story softball shuts out Mid-Prairie to advance to 3A Regional Semifinals, 8-0

The Roland-Story Norsemen softball team returned to action on Thursday night, as they hosted the Mid-Prairie Hawks in Class 3A, Region 7 action at Bill Hennessy Field in Roland. Roland-Story entered at 11-15, while Mid-Prairie entered at 7-21.

Thursday’s first two innings would go scoreless, as Roland-Story would be first on the board in the 3rd, scoring a run off an error to take a 1-0 lead. In the 4th, the Norsemen would blow the doors off the game, as 7 runs scored off a passed ball, a Peyton Jeter 2-run RBI double, a Keely Oberender 2-run RBI double and a Brookelyn Jondle 2-run RBI single to put Roland-Story ahead 8-0. The Norsemen shutout the Hawks in the 5th to cap an 8-0, 5-inning victory.

Peyton Jeter would go 2-for-3 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI, Keely Oberender went 1-for-3 with a 2-run RBI double, while Brookelyn Jondle went 1-for-2 with a 2-run RBI single. Miley Geise pitched a 1-hit shutout, striking out 5 in 5 innings for the Norsemen.

Roland-Story softball returns to action on Saturday, when they travel to West Liberty to take on the Comets in Class 3A, Region 7 semifinal action at 7 PM.
