Webster City softball holds off Iowa Falls-Alden in NCC finale, 3-2

The Webster City Lynx softball team returned to action on Wednesday, as they hosted the Iowa Falls-Alden Cadets in North Central Conference action at Webster City High School. Webster City entered at 4-16, while Iowa Falls-Alden entered at 9-9.

Webster City would put up a run in the bottom of the 1st to take a 1-0 lead, as IF-A wouldn’t respond until the top of the 3rd with a run of their own to tie the game at 1-1. The tie would last until the 6th, as the Cadets held a momentary 2-1 lead, as Webster City rebutted with 2 runs in the bottom of the 6th to take the lead and capture a 3-2 win.

Breanna Bahrenfuss and Jaylyn Bahrenfuss would each drive in runs without recording hits, as Hailey Brim went 2-for-3 with a double and Jakaela Cherry went 1-for-3 with a triple. Cherry also pitched the complete game, allowing 2 runs (0 earned) on 4 hits and struck out 4.

Webster City softball returns to action on Thursday, when they travel to Eagle Grove to take on the Eagles in non-conference action with first pitch at 6 PM.
