Eagle Grove baseball downs North Iowa in regular season finale, 8-2

The Eagle Grove Eagles baseball team returned to action on Wednesday, as they hosted the North Iowa Bison in Top of Iowa West action at Greenwood Park in Eagle Grove. Eagle Grove entered at 5-15, while North Iowa entered at 3-14.

Following a scoreless first inning, Eagle Grove put up a 4-spot in the 2nd inning, followed by a run in the 3rd to take a 5-0 lead. North Iowa would respond with 2 runs in the 4th to cut it to 5-2, but Eagle Grove added a run in the 5th and 2 runs in the 6th to cap an 8-2 victory.

Syrus Willard would go 3-for-4 with a double and 3 RBI, as Trenton Robinson went 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI. Gavin Pedersen was the winning pitcher, allowing 2 runs on 3 hits and struck out 4 in 3.2 innings.

Eagle Grove baseball returns to action on Saturday, when they travel to Garner to take on Clarion-Goldfield-Dows in their Class 2A, Substate 7 first round matchup with first pitch at 5 PM on 95.7 KQWC and streaming online at kqradio.com.
