Webster City baseball falls short at North Polk, 6-2

The Webster City Lynx baseball team returned to action on Tuesday night, as they made the trip south to the Des Moines metro to take on the North Polk Comets in non-conference action at North Polk High School in Alleman. Webster City entered at 10-14, while North Polk entered at 15-11.

Tuesday’s first inning would be scoreless, as the Lynx then scratched a pair of runs across in the 2nd on an Alex Staley RBI bases-loaded walk and a Braylon Dyvig RBI single to put Webster City went ahead 2-0. North Polk responded with a 5-run bottom of the 2nd to take a 5-2 lead, as the Comets added on to the lead with a Drew Owen solo home run in the 4th to go ahead 6-2. Webster City had chances to draw closer, including bases-loaded situations in the 6th and 7th, but could not deliver in a 6-2 loss.

Braylon Dyvig went 1-for-4 with an RBI single, as Alex Staley went 0-for-2 with an RBI and 2 walks. Matt Tesdahl pitched the complete game, allowing 6 runs on 4 hits and struck out 2.

Webster City baseball returns to action on Wednesday, when they travel to Forest City to take on the Indians in non-conference action at Forest City High School, with first pitch at 7:30 PM on 95.7 KQWC or streaming online at kqradio.com.
