The South Hamilton Hawks baseball team returned to action on Tuesday, as they made the trip into Hardin County to take on the Cadets of Iowa Falls-Alden in non-conference action at Cadet Field in Iowa Falls. South Hamilton entered at 3-14, while Iowa Falls-Alden entered at 11-10.
Iowa Falls-Alden was first one the board with a run in the bottom of the 1st, but South Hamilton answered with 3 runs in the 2nd off a Garrett Johnson bases-loaded walk and a Landon Sogard 2-run RBI single to make the score 3-1. The Cadets answered in the 4th with an RBI triple from Kyler Patton, as Patton would score on the play off an error as well to tie the game at 3-3, as IF-A took the lead in the next inning on a Ryder Pitre sac fly as South Hamilton could not mount a rally in a 4-3 defeat.
Landon Sogard would go 2-for-3 with a double and 2 RBI, while Braden Young and Brody Harris also recorded hits. Conner Deppe was charged with the loss, allowing 4 runs (2 earned) on 7 hits and struck out 4.
South Hamilton baseball returns to action on Wednesday, as they pick up a suspended game with Grand View Christian at the James Cownie Baseball Complex in Des Moines.
