Roland-Story softball drops conference finale to (3A) #4 PCM, 13-5

The Roland-Story Norsemen softball team returned to action on Tuesday, as they made the trip to Monroe to take on the PCM Mustangs in Heart of Iowa Conference action at PCM High School. Roland-Story entered with a record of 11-12, while PCM entered at 19-4 and ranked #4 in Class 3A.

After a scoreless first inning, PCM exploded for a 9-run 2nd inning, followed by 2 runs each in the 3rd and the 4th to take a 13-0 lead. Roland-Story would not go quietly, as the Norsemen plated 5 runs in the top of the 4th off a Brookelyn Jondle RBI single, a Maddie Berggren bases-clearing double and a Kenzie Peterson sac bunt to cut the score to 13-5, but the Norsemen could not get the margin low enough to continue the game in a 13-5, 5-inning defeat.

Brookelyn Jondle went 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored, as Maddie Berggren went 1-for-1 with a 3-run RBI double and a walk. Cece Doyle was charged with the loss, allowing 11 runs (1 earned) on 7 hits and struck out 1.

Roland-Story softball returns to action on Monday, when they travel to Clarksville to take on the Indians in non-conference action with first pitch at 7 PM.
