The Webster City Lynx softball team returned to action on Monday, as they hosted the Hampton-Dumont-CAL Bulldogs in North Central Conference action at Webster City High School. Webster City entered at 4-15, while Hampton-Dumont-CAL entered at 4-11.
After a scoreless first, HD-CAL was first on the board with a run in the 2nd to take a 1-0 lead, a lead that grew sizably in the 3rd with a 5-run frame as the Bulldogs led 6-0 after three. Webster City would get on the board with a run in the 4th, but HD-CAL answered with 2 runs in the 6th to take an 8-1 lead. Webster City would try and rally, putting up 3 runs in the 6th, but it would not be enough in an 8-4 defeat.
Morgan Hackbarth would go 2-for-4 with a double, Alivia Burns went 1-for-2 with an RBI, while Morgan Tempel went 1-for-3 with an RBI. Briley VanDeer was charged with the loss, allowing 5 runs (3 earned) on 5 hits and striking out 2.
