The Roland-Story Norsemen softball team returned to action on Monday night, as they hosted the Saydel Eagles in Heart of Iowa Conference action at Bill Hennessy Field in Roland. Roland-Story entered at 10-12, while Saydel entered at 2-18.

Roland-Story started things off with a bang as senior Peyton Jeter hit a lead off home run in the bottom of the 1st to put the Norsemen up 1-0. However, Saydel would put up a prosperous 6-run second inning to take a 6-1 lead, but the Norsemen began to claw back with 2 runs in the bottom of the 2nd off a Maddie Berggren RBI single and a Peyton Jeter RBI single to make the score 6-3. Roland-Story then put up 4 runs in the bottom of the 3rd off an Eva Corcoran RBI double, a Brookelyn Jondle RBI single and a Jenna Birklan 2-run RBI single to give the Norsemen a 7-6 lead. Roland-Story added one more run in the 4th on an error, as Saydel was held scoreless the rest of the way in an 8-6 victory.

Peyton Jeter would go 3-for-3 with a home run and 2 RBI, while Brookelyn Jondle went 2-for-2 with a triple and an RBI, as Jenna Birkland went 1-for-1 with a 2-run RBI single. Cece Doyle picked up the win in relief, allowing no runs on 2 hits and striking out 4 in 5.1 innings.
