The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowgirls softball team returned to action on Monday, as they made the trip west on Highway 3 to take on the Humboldt Wildcats in North Central Conference action at Humboldt High School. CGD entered at 1-15, while Humboldt entered at 9-12.
After a scoreless first inning, CGD plated 2 runs in the top of the 2nd to take an initial 2-0 lead. From there, Humboldt took control with a 3-run second inning, a 7-run third inning and a run in the 4th to cap an 11-2, 5-inning victory.
Gracelyn Bremmer would go 1-for-2 with an RBI single, as Blaire Askelsen went 1-for-2 with a double and Ella Engstrom recorded an RBI. Adelynn Howell was charged with the loss, allowing 10 runs (8 earned) on 9 hits and striking out 2.
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows softball returns to action on Tuesday, when they travel north on Highway 69 to take on Garner-Hayfield-Ventura in non-conference action with first pitch at 6 PM.
