The South Hamilton Hawks softball team returned to action on Friday evening, as they made the trip to Dallas County to take on the Perry Jayettes in Heart of Iowa Conference action at Perry High School. South Hamilton entered at 7-17, while Perry entered at 5-8.
Following a scoreless 1st, South Hamilton was first on the board with a sac fly from Claire Hewitt in the 2nd, as Perry answered with a run in the bottom half to tie the game at 1-1. Perry would then put up 3 runs in the 4th to take a 4-1 lead, a score that held until the Jayettes added 2 more runs in the 6th as Perry clinched a 6-1 win.
Lillie Ammerman would go 2-for-3 with a pair of singles, while Claire Hewitt went 1-for-2 with a single and an RBI. Jill Hesse picked up the loss, pitching 3 innings and allowing 4 runs (3 earned) on 6 hits and struck out 3.
South Hamilton would then host their annual softball tournament on Saturday, as the Hawks dropped their opening game to Ogden by a score of 12-2, as Jill Hesse recorded the Hawks lone hit, as Lillie Ammerman recorded an RBI. Hesse took the loss in the circle allowing 9 runs (7 earned) on 6 hits and struck out 3 in 4.2 innings.
The Hawks then dropped an extra-inning affair to Iowa Falls-Alden by a score of 7-6 in 9 innings. Lillie Ammerman went 2-for-3 with 2 RBU, while Emma Lammers and Emma Ammerman each went 1-for-4 with RBI. Lammers pitched 8.2 innings, allowing 6 runs (4 earned) on 9 hits and struck out 4.
South Hamilton softball returns to action on Monday, when they host the Greene County Rams in Heart of Iowa Conference action at the Mike Penning Athletic Complex with first pitch at 7:30 PM.
