Roland-Story baseball downs PCM at home, 6-3

The Roland-Story Norsemen baseball team returned to action on Friday evening, as they hosted the PCM Mustangs in Heart of Iowa Conference action at Norsemen Field in Story City. Roland-Story entered at 16-7, while PCM entered at 7-9.

Roland-Story struck first in the bottom of the 1st, putting up 2 runs from sac fly’s courtesy of William Zamzow and Colin Willis to put the Norsemen up 2-0. PCM answered with a Trenner Van Dyke 3-run home run in the 2nd to take a 3-2 lead, but the Norsemen put up 3 runs in the bottom of the 2nd off a passed ball and a 2-run RBI single from Cael Faber to put the Norsemen up 5-3. That score held until the 6th, when Roland-Story added another insurance run on an Aiden Frey RBI single as the Norsemen capped a 6-3 win.

Cael Faber would go 1-for-3 with 2 RBI, while Aiden Frey went 1-for-1 with an RBI and 2 walks drawn. Colin Willis picked up the win, allowing 3 runs on 3 hits and striking out 11 as Tucker Hawkins picked up the save, pitching the final 3 innings and allowing no runs on 2 hits and striking out 6.

Roland-Story baseball returns to action on Tuesday, when they host Newman Catholic for a non-conference doubleheader, with first pitch at 5:15 PM.
