The Webster City Lynx softball team returned to action on Wednesday, as they hosted the St. Edmond Gaels in North Central Conference action at Webster City High School. Webster City entered at 3-12, while St. Edmond entered at 16-9.
St. Edmond started off the game with a pair of runs in the top of 1st, as Webster City responded with a Morgan Tempel RBI single to make the score 2-1 after the 1st. St. Edmond then added onto their lead with 3 runs in the 3rd to go ahead 5-1, as Webster City got a run back in the 4th on a Morgan Hackbarth sac fly to make the score 5-2. From there, the Gaels dominated the rest of the game, putting up 6 runs in the 5th to clinch an 11-2, 5-inning victory.
Freshman Morgan Tempel recorded the lone Lynx hit, go 1-for-1 with an RBI single, while Morgan Hackbarth tallied an RBI for the Lynx as well. Jakaela Cherry pitched all 5 innings, allowing 11 runs (5 earned) on 5 hits and struck out 1.
Webster City softball returns to action on Friday, when they travel to Algona to take on the Bulldogs in North Central Conference action with first pitch at 7:30 PM.
