The South Hamilton Hawks softball team returned to action on Wednesday, as they hosted the PCM Mustangs in Heart of Iowa Conference action at the Mike Penning Athletic Complex in Jewell. South Hamilton entered at 7-16, while PCM entered at 17-2.
Following a scoreless 1st, PCM would put up 4 runs in the 2nd, 3 runs in the 3rd and 3 runs in the 4th to take a 10-0 lead. South Hamilton would extend the game another inning thanks to an error that score Jill Hesse to make the score 10-1, but PCM would add another run in the 5th to close out an 11-1, 5-inning victory.
Jill Hesse recorded the lone South Hamilton hit while also scoring a run, as Emma Lammers and Claire Hewitt also reached base via walks. Emma Lammers was the losing pitcher, allowing 11 runs (5 earned) on 12 hits in 5 innings.
South Hamilton softball returns to action on Thursday, when they host West Marshall in Heart of Iowa Conference action with first pitch at 7:30 PM in Jewell.
