The Roland-Story Norsemen softball team returned to action on Wednesday, as they traveled to State Center to take on the West Marshall Trojans in Heart of Iowa Conference action at West Marshall High School. Roland-Story entered at 9-9, while West Marshall entered at 14-8.
Wednesday’s first inning and a half would be scoreless, as West Marshall was first on the board in the bottom of the 2nd and took a 1-0 lead. Following a scoreless 3rd, West Marshall gained separation in the 4th with a 5-run frame, followed by a run in the 5th to go ahead 7-0. Roland-Story answered with 2 runs in the 6th on a Lauren Crabbs RBI single and a Eva Corcoran sac fly to bring the score to 7-2, but the Norsemen offense couldn’t muster more firepower in a 7-2 loss.
Lauren Crabbs would go 1-for-3 with an RBI, while Maddie Berggren would go 1-for-2. Miley Geise picked up the loss, allowing 6 runs (5 earned) on 3 hits and struck out 3 in 3.1 innings.
Roland-Story softball returns to action on Thursday, when they host Perry in Heart of Iowa Conference action with first pitch at 7:30 PM.
