Roland-Story softball falls to Greene County in HOIAC action, 8-3

The Roland-Story Norsemen softball team returned to action on Monday evening, as they hosted the Greene County Rams in Heart of Iowa Conference action at Bill Hennessy Field in Roland. Roland-Story entered at 9-8, while Greene County entered at 10-9.

Rain would plague the first inning, as the bottom of the 1st gave way to an hour-long rain delay. When action resumed, Greene County would put up 2 runs in the 2nd, followed by a prosperous 5-run 3rd inning to take a 7-0 lead. That margin would last until the 7th, when the Rams put up a run in the top half to go up 8-0. Roland-Story then found the bats in the bottom of the frame, putting up 3 runs, but could not muster more in an 8-3 defeat.

Peyton Jeter would go 3-for-4 with 2 RBI, while Eva Corcoran went 1-for-2 with a double. Miley Geise was charged with the loss, allowing 8 runs (5 earned) on 8 hits and striking out 4.

Roland-Story softball returns to action on Wednesday, when they travel to State Center to take on West Marshall in Heart of Iowa Conference action with first pitch at 7:30 PM.
