Roland-Story baseball downs Greene County in HOIAC action, 5-1

The Roland-Story Norsemen baseball team returned to action on Monday afternoon, as they hosted the Greene County Rams in Heart of Iowa Conference action at Norsemen Field in Story City. Roland-Story entered at 13-7, while Greene County entered at 2-11.

Following a scoreless 1st inning, Roland-Story would get on the board with a Cooper Triggs steal of home to put the Norsemen up 1-0. Greene County tied the game in the 3rd with an RBI single to make it 1-1, a score that lasted until the 5th as Roland-Story put up 4 runs in the frame off an error, a Braden Wallace RBI double, a Wallace steal of home and a William Zamzow sac fly to put the Norsemen ahead 5-1. Roland-Story would hold Greene County off the board from there for a 5-1 victory.

Braden Wallace would go 1-for-3 with an RBI double, as Chance Georgius and Cael Faber went 1-for-2 and Aiden Frey and Cooper Triggs each went 1-for-3. Colin Willis picked up the win in relief, pitching 4 innings and allowing no runs on 4 hits and striking out 6.

Roland-Story baseball returns to action on Wednesday, when they travel to Riverfront Stadium in Waterloo to play a doubleheader with Burlington Notre Dame and Kee, Lansing with Game 1 beginning at 4 PM.
