Eagle Grove baseball downed by Bishop Garrigan at home, 8-2

The Eagle Grove Eagles baseball team returned to action on Monday, as they hosted the Bishop Garrigan Golden Bears in Top of Iowa West action at Greenwood Park in Eagle Grove. Eagle Grove entered with a record of 4-11, while Bishop Garrigan entered at 9-5.

Garrigan would start things off on the quick side, putting up a run in the 1st, followed by 2 runs in the 2nd to take a 3-0 lead. Following a scoreless 3rd, the Golden Bears added on to that lead with a run in the 4th, followed by 2 more runs in the 5th. Eagle Grove then got on the board with 2 runs in the bottom of the 5th to cut the score to 6-2, but Garrigan would erase doubt with 2 more runs in the 7th to cap an 8-2 victory.

Leelan Spencer would have the top day at the plate for the Eagles, going 2-for-3 with 2 singles, while Hayden Schafer went 1-for-2 with an RBI. Syrus Willard was charged with the loss, allowing 6 runs on 7 hits and striking out 6.

Eagle Grove baseball returns to action on Wednesday, when they travel to Lake Mills to take on the Bulldogs in Top of Iowa West action with first pitch at 7:30 PM.
