Eagle Grove softball falls at Belmond-Klemme, sweeps West Hancock Tournament on Saturday

The Eagle Grove Eagles softball team returned to action on Friday, as they made the trip to Belmond to take on the Belmond-Klemme Broncos in Top of Iowa West action at Belmond-Klemme High School. Eagle Grove entered at 7-5, while Belmond-Klemme entered at 10-2.

Friday’s 1st inning would be scoreless, as Eagle Grove got on the board in the 2nd with a run, only to be answered by 2 runs in the bottom of the 2nd to take a 2-1 lead. Eagle Grove then put up 4 runs in the 3rd to take a 5-2 lead, as Belmond responded with 2 more runs to cut the score to 5-4. Following an Eagles run in the 4th, Belmond would put up 4 runs in the 4th and 4 runs in the 5th and would shut down the Eagles bats in the late stages for a 12-6 win.

Addy Jeske would go 3-for-4 with a double and 2 singles, as Lily Locke went 2-for-3 with a home run and 2 RBI. Mya Morgan was charged with the loss, allowing 11 runs (6 earned) on 10 hits and striking out 4 in 4.1 innings.

The Eagles turned around and traveled to Britt on Saturday morning to compete in the West Hancock Tournament. Eagle Grove would down Manson-Northwest Webster in their 1st game by a score of 9-3, as Addy Jeske went 2-for-4 with a triple and 2 RBI, 2hile Mya Morgan went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, while also pitching the complete game, allowing 3 runs (2 earned) on 1 hit and striking out 9.

Eagle Grove followed by routing Northwood-Kensett in Game 2 of the tournament by a score of 17-4. Taytum Edwards went 1-for-1 with a 2-run RBI single, Crystal Flores went 3-for-4 with an RBI, while Mya Morgan went 1-for-3 with a 3-run home run. Johanna Flores-Baez went 4 innings, allowing 4 runs (1 earned) on 5 hits and struck out 2.

Eagle Grove softball returns to action on Monday, when they host Bishop Garrigan in Top of Iowa West action with 1st pitch at 6 PM at Greenwood Park.
