Eagle Grove baseball routs Belmond-Klemme in 6 innings, 14-2

The Eagle Grove Eagles baseball team returned to action on Friday, as they made the trip to northeastern Wright County to take on the Belmond-Klemme Broncos in Top of Iowa West action at Belmond-Klemme High School. Eagle Grove entered at 3-11, while Belmond-Klemme entered at 2-10.

Eagle Grove would score a run in the top of the 1st, as Belmond-Klemme answered with 2 runs in the bottom of the frame to take a 2-1 lead. From there, Eagle Grove would pick up the pace, scoring 4 runs in the 2nd, a run in the 3rd, 2 runs in the 4th and 3 runs each in the 5th and 6th to cap a 14-2, 6-inning victory.

Hayden Schafer would go 2-for-2 with 2 singles and 3 RBI, as Leelan Spencer went 1-for-4 with an RBI double and Brett Ascherl went 2-for-2 with a triple and an RBI. Gavin Pedersen picked up the win, allowing 2 runs on 3 hits and striking out 11 in 6 innings.

Eagle Grove baseball returns to action on Monday, when they host Bishop Garrigan at Greenwood Park in Top of Iowa West action with 1st pitch at 5 PM.
