Webster City softball shuts out Clarion-Goldfield-Dows, 12-0

The Webster City Lynx and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowgirls softball team returned to action on Wednesday, as the two faced on another in North Central Conference action at Webster City High School. Webster City entered at 1-11, while CGD entered at 0-12.

Webster City got on the board first with 2 runs in the bottom of 1st to take a 2-0 lead, before the Lynx would blow the doors off the contest with a 10-run 2nd inning to take a 12-0 lead. Webster City would hold CGD off the scoreboard in the 3rd and 4th to capture a 12-0, 4 inning victory.

Freshman Morgan Tempel had the top day at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a double, a triple and 4 RBI. Breanna Bahrenfuss would go 2-for-2 with a double and 2 RBI, while Jakaela Cherry, Lydia VanDeer, Alivia Burns and Cloe Savitski all drove in runs for the Lynx. Jakaela Cherry would pitch a gem, allowing 0 runs on 1 hit and 9 strikeouts.

Webster City softball returns to action on Thursday, when they host Pocahontas Area in non-conference action at Webster City High School, with 1st pitch at 7:30 PM. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows softball returns to action on Thursday, when they travel to Jewell to take on South Hamilton in non-conference action at the Mike Penning Athletic Complex, with 1st pitch at 7:30 PM.
