South Hamilton softball routs South Hardin in Eldora, 13-1

The South Hamilton Hawks softball team returned to action on Tuesday, as they made the trip east on Highway 175 to take on the South Hardin Tigers in non-conference action at South Hardin High School in Eldora. South Hamilton entered at 3-14, while South Hardin entered at 2-14.

South Hamilton would come out of the gate with 7 runs in the first inning, courtesy of a Lillie Ammerman RBI walk, a passed ball, a Claire Hewitt sac fly, an Adey Trask 3-run RBI triple and a wild pitch to take a 7-0 lead. South Hamilton would add a run in the 2nd as Claire Hewitt scored on a wild pitch, while Emma Lammers scored on a wild pitch in the top of the 4th to put the Hawks ahead 9-0. South Hamilton continued their offensive onslaught into the 5th with a Jill Hesse RBI double, a Claire Hewtitt RBI single and an Emma Ammerman RBI single to put the Hawks up 13-0. South Hardin would score a run in the 5th, but the game would end in 5 innings with a 13-1 win for South Hamilton.

Claire Hewitt would go 2-for-3 with a triple and 2 RBI, as Stella Martensen went 2-for-3. Adey Trask went 1-for-3 with a bases-clearing triple and 3 RBI, as Jill Hesse went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, while also pitching all 5 innings, allowing 1 run on 4 hits and striking out 1.

South Hamilton softball returns to action on Wednesday, when they travel to Des Moines to take on the Grand View Christian Thunder in Heart of Iowa Conference action at the North Des Moines Softball Complex at 7:30 PM.
