South Hamilton baseball falls just short at South Hardin, 2-1

The South Hamilton Hawks baseball team returned to action on Tuesday, as they made the trip east on Highway 175 to take on the South Hardin Tigers in non-conference action at South Hardin High School in Eldora. South Hamilton entered at 2-8, while South Hardin entered at 11-5.

Tuesday’s matchup would see South Hardin jump ahead on a Bo Carpenter sac fly in the 1st to take a 1-0 lead. The Tigers would then add a run on an RBI ground out from Casey Williamson in the 4th to go up 2-0. Pitching and defenses would rule into the final inning, as South Hamilton attempted a rally as a Braden Young RBI double made the score 2-1, but the Hawks could not even things up in a 2-1 defeat.

Braden Young would go 1-for-4 with an RBI double, while Landon Sogard went 1-for-2. Brody Harris was charged with the loss on the mound despite pitching will, pitching 5 innings and allowing 2 runs (1 earned) on 3 hits and striking out 3.

South Hamilton baseball returns to action on Wednesday, as they travel to Des Moines to take on the Grand View Christian Thunder in Heart of Iowa Conference doubleheader action at Cownie Baseball Complex with first pitch at 5:15 PM.
