The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowboys baseball team returned to action on Tuesday, as they hosted the Rockford Warriors in non-conference action CGD High School. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows entered at 6-12, while Rockford entered at 0-10.
Rockford would get on the board first with a pair of runs in the top of the 1st to take a 2-0 lead, before CGD answered with 3 runs in the bottom half on a Jacob Ruba RBI single and a Huxley Lingenfelter 2-run RBI single to put the Cowboys ahead 3-2. The Cowboys then added 2 runs in the 4th off a Tristan Kakacek RBI singles and an error, followed by a 7-run 5th inning with RBI singles from Brandon Stein and Kolton Hefti, a 2-run RBI double and a bases-loaded walk from Jacob Ruba to end the game in 5 innings by a score of 12-2.
Tristan Kakacek would have a perfect 3-for-3 night, with a double and 3 RBI, while Huxley Lingenfelter went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI and Paxton Lingenfelter went 2-for-4. Owen Sweeney would pick up the win, pitching all 5 innings and allowing 2 runs on 2 hits and striking out 10.
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows baseball returns to action on Thursday, when they travel to Lake Mills to take on the Bulldogs in non-conference action with first pitch at 7:30 PM.
