
The Webster City Lynx softball team returned to action on Monday, as they hosted the Humboldt Wildcats in North Central Conference action at Webster City High School. The Lynx entered at 1-10, while Humboldt entered at 5-4.
Humboldt would get on the board first with a run in the top of the 1st, but Webster City would respond with 2 runs in the bottom of half to take a 2-1 lead. Webster City would then add a run in the 3rd and a run in the 4th to go up 4-1, but Humboldt would rally with a 4-run 5th inning to take a 5-4 lead. Webster City then evened things up with a run in the 6th, as the game went into extras with the score at 5-5. In the 8th inning, Humboldt would plate 2 runs, as the Lynx couldn’t muster the offense to comeback in the bottom half in a 7-5 loss.
Jakaela Cherry would go 2-for-4 with an RBI and a double, while Breanna Bahrenfuss went 1-for-4 with an RBI. Cherry was charged with the loss, allowing 7 runs (6 earned) on 11 hits and striking out 4.
Webster City softball returns to action on Tuesday, as they host Boone in non-conference action at Webster City High School with first pitch at 7:15 PM.
