
The Webster City Lynx baseball team returned to action on Monday, as they hosted the Humboldt Wildcats for a scheduled NCC doubleheader at Webster City High School. Webster City entered at 6-10, while Humboldt entered at 14-4.
After a scoreless 1st, Humboldt would take command with a 7-run 2nd inning to take a 7-0 lead. The Wildcats would then add 3 more runs in the top of the 5th to go up 10-0, but a bloop RBI single from Matt Tesdahl kept the game going with the Lynx down to 10-1 after 5. The Lynx added another run in the 6th off a Boston Farley RBI single to make it 10-2, but Humboldt would erase any doubt with 3 runs in the 7th to capture at 13-2 victory.
Boston Farley would go 2-for-3 with an with an RBI, while Matt Tesdahl went 1-for-3 with an RBI. Braylon Dyvig was the losing pitcher, allowing 7 runs (2 earned) on 6 hits and striking out 1.
Game 2 would be postponed due to severe weather and will be made up as a JV/V doubleheader at Humboldt High School on Wednesday, with a varsity start at 7 PM.
