South Hamilton softball downed at home by Saydel, 13-2

The South Hamilton Hawks softball team returned to action on Monday, as they hosted the Saydel Eagles in Heart of Iowa Conference action at the Mike Penning Athletic Complex in Jewell. South Hamilton entered at 3-13, while Saydel entered at 1-10.

Monday’s first 2 innings would go scoreless, as the Eagles would put 2 runs up in the 3rd, followed by a run in the top of the 4th, as Saydel took a 3-0 lead. South Hamilton answered with a pair of RBI singles in the 4th from Stella Martensen and Adey Trask to cut the score to 3-2. From there, Saydel would blow the doors open with 5 runs in the 5th inning, and following a scoreless 6th, 5 more runs in the 7th to capture a 13-2 victory.

Emma Lammers would go 2-for-4 with a pair of singles, while Stella Martensen and Adey Trask each went 1-for-3 with RBI singles. Lammers was charged with the loss in the circles, pitching 6 innings and allowing 9 runs (5 earned) on 10 hits and striking out 4.

South Hamilton softball returns to action on Tuesday, when they travel to Eldora to take on South Hardin in non-conference action with 1st pitch at 7 PM.
