Eagle Grove baseball falls at Forest City, 9-4

The Eagle Grove Eagles baseball team returned to action on Monday, as they made the trip into Winnebago County to take on the Forest City Indians in Top of Iowa West action at Forest City High School. Eagle Grove entered at 2-9, while Forest City entered at 10-2.

Eagle Grove would get off to a good start on Monday, scoring 2 runs in the 1st off a passed ball and a Jesus Baez RBI single to take a 2-0 lead. Forest City answered with 4 runs in the 2nd to take a 4-2 lead as Eagle Grove answered in the 4th with a Trenton Robinson RBI single to cut the score to 4-3. Forest City would then add a run in the 4th and 2 more runs in the 5th to take a 7-3 lead. Eagle Grove got a run back in the 6th off a Jackson Babcock RBI single to make it 7-4, but Forest City would add 2 more insurance runs in the 6th to secure a 9-4 win.

Leelan Spencer would go 2-for-4 with 2 singles, Jesus Baez went 1-for-3 with an RBI single, while Trenton Robinson went 1-for-2 with an RBI single. Gavin Pedersen was charged with the loss, allowing 6 runs (2 earned) on 2 hits with 3 strikeouts in 4 innings.

Eagle Grove baseball returns to action on Wednesday, when they host West Hancock in Top of Iowa West action at Greenwood Park with 1st pitch at 7:30 PM.
