
The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowgirls softball team returned to action on Monday, as they hosted the Clear Lake Lions in North Central Conference action at CGD High School. CGD entered at 0-10, while Clear Lake entered at 10-5.
Clear Lake would pounce on CGD right away, putting up 7 runs in the 1st inning, before putting up 7 more in the 2nd to take a 14-0 lead. The Cowgirls would get on the board with 3 runs in the bottom of the 3rd with all 3 runs scoring on errors to cut the score to 14-3. Clear Lake would then put up 7 more runs in the 4th as they closed out a 21-3 victory.
Quinn Brooks, Kayla Hasty and Blaire Askelsen would record hits for the Cowgirls, as Brooks, Hasty and Adelynn Howell scored the Cowgirls runs. Kayla Hasty was charged with the loss, allowing 7 runs (6 earned) on 4 hits and struck out 1 in an inning of work.
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows softball returns to action on Tuesday, when they host Rockford in non-conference action at 7:30 PM.
