Webster City softball falls to (4A) #6 Carlisle on Friday, loses to Martensdale-St. Mary’s on Saturday

The Webster City Lynx softball team returned to action on Friday evening, as they hosted the Carlisle Wildcats in non-conference action at Webster City High School. Webster City entered at 1-7, while Carlisle entered at 12-4.

Carlisle would jump on the board right away, putting up 4 runs in the 1st, only to be answered by 2 runs from Webster City in the bottom half as the Wildcats led 4-2. Following a scoreless 2nd, Carlisle would add 4 more runs in the 3rd, followed by a run in the 4th and 2 more runs in the 5th as the Wildcats would claim an 11-2 win in 5 innings.

Jakaela Cherry would go 1-for-2 with a base hit, while Jaylyn Bahrenfuss drove in the only RBI on a bases-loaded walk in the 1st.

Webster City followed by facing Martensdale-St. Mary’s on Saturday in the Dave Hilton Classic, as Martensdale started with a run in the 1st, only to be answered by 4 Lynx runs in the bottom of the 2nd a Jakaela Cherry 2-run RBI single and a Cloe Savitski 2-run RBI triple to put the Lynx ahead 4-1. Martensdale would get a run back in the 3rd, before putting up 8 runs in the 4th to take a 10-4 lead and capture a 10-4 win after the time limit was reached.

Cloe Savitski would go 1-for-3 with a 2-run RBI triple, while Breanna Bahrenfuss went 2-for-3. Jakaela Cherry would go 1-for-3 with 2 RBI and a single, while pitching 5 innings, allowing 9 runs (8 earned) on 10 hits and striking out 3.

Webster City softball returns to action on Monday, when they host the Humboldt Wildcats in North Central Conference action at Webster City High School, with 1st pitch at 7:30 PM.
