
The Eagle Grove Eagles baseball team returned to action on Friday, as they made the drive to Buffalo Center to take on the North Iowa Bison in Top of Iowa West action at North Iowa High School. Eagle Grove entered at 2-8, while North Iowa entered at 2-7.
Friday’s first two innings would be scoreless, as Eagle Grove would be first on the scoreboard in the 3rd, but North Iowa answered with 2 runs in the bottom half to take a 2-1 lead after 3. That score would hold until the 6th as the Bison scratched across another run to make the score 3-1, as Eagle Grove would plate a run in the 7th, but could not complete the comeback in a 3-2 defeat.
Hayden Schafer would go 2-for-3 with a pair of singles, as Jaxon Morris, Jesus Baez and Brett Ascherl would all record hits. Ascherl would be charged with the loss, pitching 6 innings and allowing 3 runs on 6 hits and striking out 5.
Eagle Grove baseball returns to action on Monday, when they travel to Forest City to take on the Indians in Top of Iowa West action with first pitch at 7:30 PM.
