Webster City baseball falls at Pocahontas Area, 3-2

The Webster City Lynx baseball team returned to action on Thursday, as they made the trip west to take on the Pocahontas Area Indians in non-conference action at the Pocahontas Athletic Complex. Webster City entered at 6-9, while Pocahontas entered at 6-2.

Thursday’s game would be a defensive battle, with the game’s first run coming in the 3rd as Pocahontas scored a run on a Hunter Trewyn sac fly to make it 1-0. Webster City would not answer until the 6th, when junior Braylon Dyvig hit his first career home run for a 2-run shot to put the Lynx ahead 2-1. However, Pocahontas Area tied it in the 7th with an RBI double, before walking things off with a walk-off walk with the bases loaded to give the Indians a 3-2 win.

Braylon Dyvig would go 3-for-3 with his 2-run homer, while Gavin Griffith and Boston Farley both went 1-for-3. Matt Tesdahl was charged with the loss, allowing 3 runs (2 earned) on 6 hits and striking out 3.

Webster City baseball returns to action on Monday, when they host Humboldt for an NCC doubleheader at Webster City High School, beginning at 5:30 PM on AM 1570 KZWC and online at kqradio.com.
