The Eagle Grove Eagles baseball team returned to action on Thursday afternoon, as they took on the Southeast Valley Jaguars in non-conference action at Harlan Rogers Sports Complex in Fort Dodge. Eagle Grove entered at 2-7, while Southeast Valley entered at 4-5.
Following a scoreless 1st, Southeast Valley tallied a run in the 2nd to take a 1-0 lead. Eagle Grove would answer with 3 runs in the 3rd to take a 3-1 lead, but Southeast Valley would tie the game in the 4th at 3-3, before claiming a 5-4 lead after 5 innings. From there Southeast Valley’s offense found another gear, putting up 3 more runs in the 6th and a run in the 7th to cap a 9-4 victory.
Syrus Willard would go 2-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI, while Leelan Spencer went 2-for-3 with 2 singles and an RBI. Willard was charged with the loss on the mound, allowing 5 runs (2 earned) on 1 hit and striking out 6.
Eagle Grove baseball returns to action on Friday, when they travel to Buffalo Center to take on North Iowa in Top of Iowa West action at 7:30 PM.
