
The South Hamilton Hawks softball team returned to action on Tuesday night, as they made the trip down to Des Moines to take on the Saydel Eagles in Heart of Iowa Conference action at Saydel High School. South Hamilton entered at 1-10, while Saydel entered at 0-7.
After a scoreless first 2 innings, South Hamilton would get on the board first behind a Jill Hesse RBI single to put the Hawks up 1-0. Saydel answered in the bottom half with 2 runs to take a 2-1 lead, before South Hamilton would reclaim the lead in the 5th behind an error and a Lillie Ammerman steal of home to take a 3-2 lead. The Hawks would then add big insurance runs behind a 3-run home run by freshman Emma Lammers to take a 6-2 lead, as South Hamilton closed out a 6-3 win.
Adey Trask would go 2-for-3 with a double, while Sydnee Flaugh and Stella Martensen would go 2-for-4 each. Emma Lammers would go 1-for-3 with that 3-run homer, while pitching the complete game, allowing 3 runs (2 earned) on 4 hits and striking out 5.
South Hamilton softball returns to action on Thursday, when they travel to Huxley to take on the Ballard Bombers in non-conference action at 7:30 PM.
