
The Roland-Story Norsemen softball team returned to action on Tuesday, as they made the trip to Nevada to take on the Cubs in Heart of Iowa Conference action at Nevada High School. Roland-Story entered at 5-3, while Nevada entered at 2-7.
Roland-Story would pounce on the Cubs at the start, putting up 5 runs in the 1st off a Peyton Jeter sac fly, an error, a Lauren Crabbs 2-run RBI double and an Eva Corcoran RBI double to give the Norsemen a 5-0 lead. The Norsemen added a run in the 2nd on a Miley Geise RBI single, before Nevada responded with a Jadyn Melohn home run to make it 6-1. Roland-Story would then blow the doors open on the game with a Lauren Crabbs RBI single, Kennedy Petersen scoring on a passed ball and a Peyton Jeter 3-run homer to put the Norsemen up 12-1. Two more runs would score in the 4th for the Norsemen on a Maddie Berggren steal of home and a Brookelyn Jondle RBI double as the Norsemen capped a 14-1 victory in 4 innings.
Lauren Crabbs would go 2-for-3 with a double and 3 RBI, while Peyton Jeter went 1-for-3 with a home run and 4 RBI. Miley Geise would go 3-for-3 with an RBI, as well as pitching the complete game, allowing 1 run on 1 hit and striking out 7.
Roland-Story softball returns to action on Wednesday, when they travel to Des Moines to take on the Grand View Christian Thunder in Heart of Iowa Conference action at the North Des Moines Softball Complex at 7:30 PM.
