New water tower for Ellsworth discussed during Monday evening at Ellsworth City Council meeting.

The Ellsworth City Council met Monday evening with Katie Sterk of the Bolton and Menk engineering firm regarding the new water tower project. Sterk informed the council that the plans and specs for the project and the opinion of probable, which has been updated to an estimated $3,407, 115. The bid letting for the water tower will begin today,June 11th with a deadline of July 11th. The bids must be submitted to Ellsworth city clerk Heidi Eckers at the Ellsworth City Hall. A public hearing on the water tower project will be held July 14th at the regular city council meeting. The bid will be awarded at the July 22nd regular council session.

The Ellsworth city council tabled action on the developer’s agreement until the council, the public works director and the city clerk will meet with Wayne Schlotfeldt to discuss the implications of the proposed adjustments to the sewer easement project.

Marcy Olson was appointed by the Ellsworth City Council to serve on the EJS Police Board.

In other matters, the council learned that the Ellsworth Community Association (ECA) is looking for volunteers in several capabilities for the Ice Cream Social event on August 2nd. If you wish to volunteer, you may contact either Marcy Olson, Ashley Platte, or Linda Clark to assist. The progress continues on the Ellsworth ballfield concession roof project which is almost complete. Thompson Construction agreed to donate a rolling concession window and door for the project valued at $1500. The council learned of the plans for the Dump Your Junk event set for June 21st. Large items can be hauled out to the road or brought to the large dumpsters in the parking area of IAS in Ellsworth. The Ellsworth Community Association will be covering disposal fees and collection with the partnership of The Trashman in Webster City.
