
At their Monday evening meeting, the Webster City Community School Board reviewed the improvements to learning for the students during the 2024-25 school year that wrapped up May 30th. Webster City school director of teaching and learning Jama Hisler presented the accomplishments of student achievement and curriculum review. The report showed improvements to reading, mathematics and science in each of the classrooms over the past school year. The past school year included workshops for the teaching staff on what they can do to help students in their daily lessons. There were similar presentations made by the administrators of Northeast Hamilton, Pleasant View and Sunset Heights elementary schools, Webster City Middle School and Webster City High School on the past academic year. One of the highlights was a positive director in the mathematics tests for the seventh grade at the Middle School up from the 2023-24 school year, The success in the Middle School math program for seventh graders was celebrated in the final days of the school year during an assembly. Webster City superintendent Matt Bernhinghaus thanked Hisler and the school administrators for addressing curriculum issues for the past school year.
There were no monetary donations made to the Webster City school district during the past month. The board accepted the fund-raising requests from the Webster City school athletic department, the girl’s tennis team and from the high school volleyball team to help park cars at next month’s Hamilton County Fair. The Webster City school board approved the renewal of participation on the Instructional Support Program for the 2025-26 school year.
The Webster City Community School Board approved the recommendation from United Coop for propane for the 2025-26 school year. A Thrive Academy Agreement with the Webster City and the Manson-Northwest Webster Community School District to allow the enrollment of students in the THRIVE Academy program. THRIVE Academy is a program devoted to students with special needs.
Resignations were accepted from 7th Grade Girls Volleyball coach Joylyn Cobb, Paraeducator Euker Keller and 7th through 12th grade Health Teacher Connor Larson. The hiring of Calissa Derrick as a Middle School Art Teacher was approved. The Solution Tree Professional Development Agreement was accepted by the board on Monday evening. The Webster City Community School board approved a 3.03 percent increase in salary for the non-certified support staff association for the 2025-26 school year. Other increases include a 3.04 percent increase in salary for the non-bargaining support staff and a 3.00 percent salary increase for the administrative staff for the 2025-26 school year. A $5000 agreement for contract modifications was approved by the Webster City school board.
There was a closed session of the board for the annual evaluation of the superintendent
