South Hamilton softball falls short at Greene County, 6-4

The South Hamilton Hawks softball team returned to action on Monday, as they made the trip to Jefferson to take on the Greene County Rams in Heart of Iowa Conference action at the Jefferson Softball Park. South Hamilton entered at 1-9, while Greene County entered at 4-5.

Greene County put up a run in the 1st and 2nd to take a 2-0 lead, before the Rams scored 2 runs in the 4th and 2 runs in the 6th to take a 6-0 lead. South Hamilton would mount a rally in the 6th, as Lillie Ammerman drove in 2 runs on an RBI single, before Emma Ammerman drove in a run on an RBI single, as well as another run scoring on an error to cut the score to 6-4. The Hawks were unable to put up more offense in the 7th as Greene County held on for a 6-4 win.

Lillie Ammerman would go 1-for-3 with her 2-run RBI single, while Emma Ammerman went 1-for-3 with an RBI single. Emma Lammers was charged with the loss, allowing 6 runs (5 earned) on 13 hits and struck out 2.

South Hamilton softball returns to action on Tuesday, when they travel to Des Moines to take on Saydel in Heart of Iowa Conference action at 7 PM.
