Roland-Story softball 10-runs Saydel in HOIAC action, 13-3

The Roland-Story Norsemen softball team returned to action on Monday, as they made the trip to Des Moines to take on the Saydel Eagles in Heart of Iowa Conference action at Saydel High School. Roland-Story entered at 4-3, while Saydel entered at 0-7.

Roland-Story would jump ahead early on a Keely Oberender 2-run RBI single in the 1st to take a 2-0 lead, before the Norsemen put up 4 runs in the 2nd of a 2-run error and another Keely Oberender 2-run RBI single to make it 6-0. Saydel would answer with 3 runs in the 3rd to cut the score to 6-3, but Roland-Story would blow the doors open in the 4th behind home runs from Miley Geise and Keely Oberender, as well as RBI singles from Eva Corcoran, Maddie Berggren and Evelyn Carlson to put the Norsemen up 13-3 as they would close the game out in the 4th for a mercy-rule victory.

Keely Oberender would put together a monstrous day at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a home run and 5 RBI, while Miley Geise went 1-for-3 with a home run and 2 RBI. Geise would pick up the win in the circle, allowing 3 runs on 4 hits and striking out 5.

Roland-Story softball returns to action on Tuesday, when they travel to Nevada to take on the Cubs in Heart of Iowa Conference action at Nevada High School at 7:30 PM.
