
The Eagle Grove Eagles softball team returned to action on Monday, as they made the trip into Hancock County to take on the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura Cardinals in Top of Iowa West action at GHV High School. Eagle Grove entered at 4-2, while GHV entered at 3-2.
GHV would jump on top first with a pair of runs in the 1st to take a 2-0 lead, before Eagle Grove put up 2 runs score on a passed ball and a Brenna Grandgeorge RBI single tied the game at 2-2. Eagle Grove would then put up 4 runs in the 3rd off back-to-back home runs from Lily Locke and Holly Anderson, as well as a Chloe Schultz RBI single to put the Eagles up 6-2. Eagle Grove would follow up with another 4-run inning in the 4th, with runs on a passed ball, a Lily Locke RBI single and Holly Anderson hitting her 2nd home run of the day to put the Eagles up 10-2. GHV would add a run in the 4th to bring it to 10-3, but Eagle Grove would get a run back on a wild pitch in the 5th before closing out an 11-3, 6-inning victory.
Lily Locke would go 3-for-4 with a home run and 3 RBI, while Holly Anderson with 2-for-3 with 2 home runs and 3 RBI. Mya Morgan picked up the win, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits and struck out 8 in 6 innings.
Eagle Grove softball returns to action on Wednesday, when they host North Union in Top of Iowa West action at Greenwood Park in Eagle Grove at 6 PM.
