Webster City softball drops road NCC matchup at (1A) #7 St. Edmond, 9-1

The Webster City Lynx softball team returned to action on Friday, as they made the short trip west to Fort Dodge to take on the St. Edmond Gaels in North Central Conference action at Harlan Rogers Sports Complex. Webster City entered at 1-3, while St. Edmond entered at 6-2 and ranked #7 in Class 1A.

St. Edmond would get on the board 1st with an RBI double to take a 1-0 lead, but Webster City would respond in the 3rd with an Alivia Burns solo home run to tie the game at 1-1. St. Edmond would then respond with a 2-run homer in the 3rd and a 2-run homer in the 4th to take a 5-1 lead. The Gaels would then add 3 more runs in the 5th and a run in the 6th to enforce the 8-run rule in a 9-1 victory for St. Edmond.

Alivia Burns drove in the only run of the day for the Lynx with her solo home run in a 1-for-2 day, as Cloe Savitski would go 2-for-3. Jakaela Cherry was charged with the loss, going 5.1 innings and allowing 9 runs (8 earned) on 8 hits.
