The Webster City Lynx softball team returned to action on Wednesday, as they hosted the Clear Lake Lions in North Central Conference action at Webster City High School. Webster City entered at 1-2, while Clear Lake entered at 5-2.
Webster City would have a prosperous start to Wednesday’s game, putting up 5 runs on an RBI HBP, 2 wild pitches, a Hailey Brim RBI double and a Breanna Bahrenfuss RBI single to put the Lynx ahead 5-0. Clear Lake answered with a run in the 2nd and 3 runs in the 3rd to cut the score to 5-4. Webster City would add a run in the 3rd off a Breanna Bahrenfuss RBI single in the bottom of the 3rd, but Clear Lake would tie the Lynx and then take the lead in the 4th at 8-6. Webster City would cut the score to 8-7 in the 4th off a Jaylyn Bahrenfuss RBI single, but Clear Lake would put up a run in the 6th and 6 runs in 7th to coast to a 15-7 win.
Breanna Bahrenfuss would go 2-for-3 with a pair of singles and 2 RBI, while Jalyn Bahrenfuss, Amanda Lahr and Hailey Brim all drove in runs as well. Jakaela Cherry would be charged with the loss, allowing 9 runs (5 earned) on 10 hits and striking out 3.
Webster City softball returns to action on Friday, when they travel to Fort Dodge to take on the St. Edmond Gaels in North Central Conference action at the Harlan Rogers Sports Complex, beginning at 7:30 PM.
